What is the We Help screening process?

What is the difference between on-call, short term or long term nanny?

The On-Call Nanny who works on an as needed basis for your family. Short Term Nannies are nannies hired for 2 weeks or more commitment. Permanent nannies refer to long term commitment, at least one year and beyond. This type of care best suited for the busy family in need of full time hours during the week. With this type of care families have the option of a live in or live out nanny.

Where does the agency find nannies?

We Help gets referrals from other nannies and families in addition to advertising on the internet, newspapers, the yellow pages, and on college campuses. Nannies can come with a variety of backgrounds from babysitters to mothers, to teachers and nurses and beyond. We Help is always careful, selective and only accepts professionals to represent the agency.

How long does it take to hire a nanny?

We Help takes care to ensure your family has the ideal care provider, therefore hiring a nanny can take a week or longer, depending on your families’ wants and needs. You will only interview nannies you choose to interview and who have been pre-selected to fulfill your families’ specific needs. Many families find their nanny quickly and decide to look no further. The agency will work closely with you until you find the best matched nanny.

What can I expect from a Nanny?

When you hire a Nanny, you can be certain you’re getting safe, nurturing care for your children. A nanny’s job includes providing age- appropriate activities or games, transporting them to and from school or activities, preparation of children’s meals, and basic housekeeping of children’s areas. Additional things you may want your nanny to do; prepare or assist in families’ meal preparation, organize children’s clothing or toys, assist with homework or special projects, run child–related errands, and/or help coordinate your children’s schedules.

What is a typical salary range for nannies?

Generally, nannies who work full time hours, on average typically make about $500-$800 a week(based on 30 hours per week). Part time nannies usually average $15.00 – $25.00 an hour. These salaries vary from job to job and each families’ needs’ are unique and are based on many factors.

What if we decide the nanny is not right for our family?

We Help will take great care and precaution to be sure each and every family is hiring a properly matched nanny. In the case that you have decided your nanny is not working out, We Help will replace your nanny, one time, at no extra charge within 3 months of job placement. After six months, should your family decide a replacement nanny is necessary, regular placement fees apply. Once placement has been made, We Help will provide follow up to ensure a proper match has been made. We Help will always be available to address any issues and is committed to providing consistent, high quality care in the beginning and throughout your job placement.

Is GST included in the hourly rate?

GST applies in BC The 5% GST will be added to your invoice as it is not included in our rates.

Is there a fee to register?

All applications are subject to a $100.00 until you find the perfect match but this fee is subtracted from the placement fee if you choose one of our candidates. This fee will be charged once the application forms are received by the agency, before commencing the search.

How does one register to work with We Help?

  • Call our office or fill in the online application
  • Send your resume into the agency and speak to one of the consultants over the phone.

What do I need to bring to my registration interview?

  • Up-to-date resume, plus completed application (these will be emailed to you prior to interview)
  • 2 pieces of ID (one photo ID)
  • Childcare and First Aid Qualification Certificates (can be obtained after interview)
  • Current minimum two reference letters
  • A copy of a current clear criminal record check (can be obtained after interview)
  • A copy of your driving record (if you drive)
  • Proof of work eligibility

What happens after the interview?

After an interview with We Help Nanny & Cleaning Services, we then contact your referees for verification of their written references. When we have spoken to your referees we will then call you to go through our current jobs. A brief profile will be prepared by us with be sent to positions you are interested in. You can also keep an eye on the website and call the office to gain more information on any roles that are of interest. (when calling us about jobs please quote the job code given on the situations vacant pages).

Who will organize the interview between the nanny and the family?

We will make the arrangement and please advise We Help Nanny & Cleaning when your interviews are if the families contact you to arrange an interview with you themselves.

What happens after a family interview?

The family will contact us to provide feedback from your interview. We also ask that you call the next day to let us know how you feel the interview went and your interest in the position. Offer and acceptance may be made either at interview, or after discussion with We Help Nanny & Cleaning Services!

Should I keep in contact with the agency?

During the time you are looking for a new position we would ask you to keep in close contact with us so that we can monitor your progress and inform you of appropriate new positions as they come in.

What will happen if I am unsuccessful at my first interview?

We will continue to tell you about new positions and send your brief resume to potential employers until you have advised us that you have secured a suitable new position.
